Dispatch Center

Welcome to Centralia Dispatch Center! My name is Nancy Jeffries and I am the dispatch supervisor. My family and I moved to Centralia in January 2003. I started working at CPD on June 2nd, 2006. I was promoted to Dispatch Supervisor in September 2007. I hope this page answers any questions that you may have about our department; however, if not please contact me.

The dispatch center currently has four full time and two part time employees. We have a dispatcher on duty twenty four hours a day. We work eight hour shifts. During peak times of the year, such as Anchor Fest, we have two dispatchers on duty at a time. The dispatchers are required to pass a background and drug test prior to employment. We train with a full time dispatcher for six to eight weeks.

We all attend MULES certification class, forty hour basic telecommunications class, and online FEMA classes. We currently have two dispatchers that are commissioned Notary Publics. We dispatch full time for the Centralia Police Department, School Resource Officer, Code Enforcement Officer, and Centralia Fire Department. On nights, weekends, and holidays we dispatch for the Centralia Water, Electric, and Street Departments. We use a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system that allows us to function more efficiently and the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System. We are responsible for the storm warning sirens and cable override announcements. These are tested at noon on the first Wednesday of the month to ensure proper working order for an emergency situation. The dispatchers also serve as receptionists and records clerks for the police department. We assemble a paper copy of all cases and ensure that the correct agencies receive copies of the reports. If the public needs a copy of the report, they may request one from the dispatcher on duty. It will take approximately three to five days for most reports. An accident report will take seven to ten days for it to be available. We prepare a media release report for the local newspaper. We are responsible for the Uniform Crime Reporting statistics, Racial Profiling statistics, and proper handling of the MULES paperwork.
