Street Department

The Centralia Street Department has four employees, including the Foreman, who are responsible for the maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, and culverts. The Street crew is one of the most visible within the City of Centralia, and can be seen out in the City working to maintain City property and rights-of-way.

Foreman Phil Hoffman, has been with the Street Department since April 1996, and worked for the City during summers prior to his full-time employment. Phil oversees the day to day operations of the department, and working closely with the Director of Public Works and Public Utilities to maintain a list of priority streets, sidewalks, and culverts to be replaced. The annual budget lists the next five years worth of street repairs and maintenance, and the Street Dept. foreman helps to determine the priorities for those future projects.

Asst. Foreman Deme Towne brings many years of experience working with heavy equipment and street maintenance experience. Deme has also been a member of the Centralia Volunteer Fire Dept. since August 2010.

Equipment Operators Tyler Friedli and Kyle Dawson are the newest members of the street department and provide a great deal of knowledge and experience.
